Triple peaks challenge for trailblazer schoolgirl
A TRAILBLAZING schoolgirl is set to climb three of Europe’s highest peaks in the space of just a few days.
Caitlin Connor, 15, a pupil at Stonelaw High School in Cambuslang, near Glasgow, aims to climb Mont Blanc (15,777ft), Grandes Jorasses (13,806ft) and the peak of the Matterhorn (14,692ft).
Caitlin is also bidding to raise cash for two charities as part of the marathon 10-day effort.
She completed one last training session at Snow Factor Braehead before leaving for the Alps on Sunday where she will be joined by seasoned alpinist Will Morris.
Caitlin hopes to reach the summit of the Matterhorn on or about August 19 after conquering the other challenging peaks.
She is a member of the Scottish Climbing and British Ice Climbing Teams – and ranked fifth in the world in ice-climbing for her age group.
Caitlin has set up a just giving online page for Glasgow based climbing charity Urban Uprising and PoppyScotland.
