Del chasing two at Dons after Scott is ruled out

- BY IAN ORR

ABERDEEN boss Derek McInnes admits he is still chasing two new recruits to ease his defensive crisis after Scott McKenna was ruled out for six weeks.

The Scotland stopper is one of four players in the rearguard who will not be available for Saturday’s trip to Dundee after he tore his hamstring just 30 minutes into the weekend’s 1-1 draw with Rangers.

Right-back Shay Logan will serve his final league suspension while Mark Reynolds and Tommie Hoban are also still out.

McKenna’s setback is a blow to both Aberdeen and the national team.

As well as missing domestic matches against the Dark Blues, Hibs and Kilmarnock, the soughtafter 21-year-old will also not be available for Nation League clashes with Albania and Belgium on September 10 and 13.

McInnes admits he is desperately trying to bolster his squad ahead of the trip to Tayside.

He said: “We’ve not had troubles to seek defensively, we’ve got six defenders in the building and four are either injured or suspended.

“Dom Ball filled in at right-back against Rangers and did admirably well but it’s a concern we need to try to address and maybe get a couple of bodies in.

“Scott’s injury is down to fatigue, the travelling and the game at Burnley. You’re in more danger of picking up these types of injuries.”
