READERS were shocked by the plight of Emma Crispin, 26, and baby Poppy who were allocated a house covered in mould, grime and hair.

The worried mum claimed the Sanctuary Housing Association said the Cumbernauld home only needed a clean and a lick of paint.

Footage from inside showed broken windows, signs of damp, grime on worktops and hair on the staircase.

Sanctuary said repairs would be carried out and a surveyor would be visiting the property to see if further work was needed.

Anne Salmond said: “Disgusting treatment of a woman and her baby.” Elizabeth Linda Jamieson asked: “How do they expect anybody to move into that house?”

Jamie Kolodziej wrote: “I found myself in a similar situation. I keep getting told, ‘You shouldn’t have accepted the property’. But I was homeless and had no other choice.”

Fiona Doyle added: “With the housing shortage, we will see more people having to take what is on offer, whether it is suitable or not.”
