YOU SILLY RUGGER
A DRUNKEN rugby fan who yelled foul-mouthed insults at England coach Eddie Jones has been fined £234.
Dale Cleeton, 25, of Edinburgh, taunted Jones as he got off a train from the city at Manchester Oxford Road station in February.
He and Richie Cleeton, 22, Connor Inglis, 25, and Brett Grant, 23, yelled abuse at the 58-year-old coach the day after Scotland had beaten England at BY AMY WALKER Murrayfield in the Six Nations tournament.
The four, who were on the same train as Jones, took selfies with him but then began jostling him as he left the station.
Prosecutor Nick Smart said: “The situation did deteriorate immediately with some more robust Anglo-Saxon vs Celtic language, and at some stage Mr Jones was called a “baldy c***”.
“The parties were separated when Mr Jones managed to get himself pushed into a car.”
The rugby coach later said that he no longer felt safe using public transport.
The other men, all of Edinburgh, previously pled guilty to using threatening behaviour.
Builder Cleeton did not attend Manchester Magistrates’ Court on Friday to change his plea to guilty due to financial reasons.
JP Mark Aspden called the case “unpleasant” and imposed a £54 fine, prosecution costs of £150 and a victim surcharge of £30.
