TONIGHT’S ACTION

DECLAN GLASS lapped up Dundee United’s Challenge Cup glory day from the stands last year and now wants to send them on the path to more silverware.

The 18-year-old midfielder was at Fir Park in March 2017 to see the Tangerines sink St Mirren 2-1. Glass is set to f ac e Tay si d e riv al s St Johnstone tonight with reserve boss Craig Easton replacing Csaba Laszlo in the dugout for this tournament.

Glass said: “I was too young to be involved but it was great to see the boys win it and I remember Tony Andreu scored a worldie. Our goal is to win this cup again.” Arbroath boss Dick Campbell has warned his players not to slack off against Elgin after two wins from two in League One. He said: “I might freshen the side up but I want a high tempo.”

England C keeper Thomas McHale makes his Elgin debut. Montrose boss Stewart Petrie reckons his team are facing the best strikeforce outside senior football when they visit Cove.

Petrie said: “Cove are good enough to be in League Two but Mitch Megginson and Paul McManus could play at a higher level than that.”

East Kilbride host Lowland League rivals Spartans. TONY WALLACE cracked in the ninth-minute opener as Annan made it 4-0 to stun Celtic’s Colts for a second year running.

Wallace fired in the second goal after the break at Galabank before Ross Fergusson struck twice to seal the League Two side’s success.

And Falkirk were too strong for Rangers under-21s as Paul Hartley’s team progressed 2-1 at Forthbank.

Hearts’ under-21s were sunk 2-1 by Ross County at Tynecastle. Billy Mckay chipped in with three minutes played and scored again before Aidan Keena pulled one back just before the break.

Nat Wedderburn drilled Raith in front against Aberdeen’s youngsters on the way to a 3-1 win at Stark’s Park.

Ross Matthews side-footed home the second and Kevin Nisbet added a third with Bruce Anderson on target for the Dons 18 minutes from time.

Hamilton under-21s saw off senior Clyde 4-1. Mason Bloomfield gave Accies an early lead but Chris McStay replied before goals from Ross Cunningham, Ronan Hughes and Bloomfield secured it for the hosts.

Partick Thistle brushed aside Stranraer 5-0 at Stair Park after Thomas O’Ware’s opening header.

Aidan Fitzpatrick made it 2-0 before teeing up Andrea MbuyiMutombo for a debut goal. And after home keeper Max Currie was red-carded Max Melbourne and Fitzpatrick added to the Thistle tally.

Dundee edged the under-21 battle with Hibs after a 4-3 penalties win. Thomas Bradbury put the Dens Park side ahead but goals from Fraser Murray and Sean Mackie had Hibs winning until Dan Jefferies levelled.

Sam Jamieson and Cammy MacPherson scored either side of Dom Thomas to give St Mirren’s youngsters a 2-1 victory over their Kilmarnock counterparts.

And Adam Watson put Livingston’s Colts 1-0 up against Forfar but the game was abandoned after floodlights failed.
