RANGERS

ALLAN McGREGOR 9 The Scotland keeper stood tall again, with the pick of his saves a brilliant one-handed stop to deny Dervisevic.

JAMES TAVERNIER 7 Pace was crucial as the Slovenians tried to take him on for speed down left but he prevented a string of deliveries.

CONNOR GOLDSON 8 Rangers called on every bit of his organisational skills and defensive discipline as he drew a line at edge of the box Maribor couldn’t breach.

NIKOLA KATIC 7 Turned once in first half, almost at cost of a goal but read game well from his central-defensive berth. Robust, physical and never wilted.

ANDY HALLIDAY 6 They targeted him all night on the left and there were a couple of scares second half but he timed his tackles to good effect.

RYAN JACK 7 Uncharacteristically wasteful in possession in the first half, which cost his team the chance to build but improved after break.

OVIE EJARIA 6 He wasn’t on the ball in forward areas as often as he would have liked but he was defensively dogged and supported Tavernier.

SCOTT ARFIELD 7 Usually most effective at the head of midfield, he dropped deeper and worked tirelessly to support Halliday at expense of attacks.

DANIEL CANDEIAS 6 Pushed further forward as Gerrard lived up to pre-match promise to be attack-minded but dogged and defensive skills came more to fore.

ALFREDO MORELOS 6 A thankless task as lone striker on evening of few opportunities but he did his shift. A bit more game intelligence might have earned vital goal but was offside too often.

JAMIE MURPHY 6 He may not have been on the ball as often as he’d have liked but he didn’t half run himself into the ground in search of the half chance that would have made all the difference.
