JAMIE MURRAY and Brazilian Bruno Soares boosted their US Open chances by winning the Cincinnati Open.

The No.4 seeds also won in Washington a fortnight ago and claimed their ninth title together after beating old rivals Juan Sebastian Cabal and Robert Farah 4-6 6-3 10-6.

The Colombians prevailed when they met in Rome in May but Murray and Soares avenged that defeat as they came from a set down to win.

It was a perfect tune-up for the US Open, which begins next Monday. GOLF: Paul Waring defeated Thomas Aiken in a play-off at the Nordea Masters to win his first European Tour title in his 200th appearance.
