Harper: My Malaga debut was a dream come true
SCOTTISH superkid Jack Harper insists he has fulfilled a dream by making his senior debut for Malaga.
The former Real Madrid starlet made his first ever appearance this weekend in the Spanish Second Division as Malaga won 2-1 at Lugo.
Harper, now 22, was tipped to be the next Scottish star when he came through the ranks at Real before eventually moving to Brighton.
He failed to make a top-team appearance at the English Premier League club and returned to Spain, where he was brought up, to sign for Malaga.
Harper was promoted in the summer from their B team to their main side, who were relegated from La Liga last season. And he played the full 90 minutes for Malaga as they got their new season off to a winning start.
Harper said: “All I have ever wanted to do was play for Malaga in their first team, either in La Liga or the Second Division. So this is a dream for me.
“In the summer, I played a lot of friendlies but I still thought I would be back in the B team when the season started.
“The manager told me two hours before kick-off that I would be starting so it was a surprise.
“I loved it and even scored a goal that was ruled out.
“We have a lot of talented kids at this club and I hope I keep getting the chance to progress here.”
