Gerrard, who fought through a throng of Liverpool fans after arriving at the team hotel at 10pm, said: “We are confident. We played against this team less than a week ago and beat them.
“We kept a clean sheet and we felt our performance deserved a bigger advantage. We treat this game in isolation but we come here with belief and confidence.
“The lads believe they can get the job done. I wouldn’t say it’s the biggest game in our history because the history at Rangers is so big. The club has played in many games.
“However, it’s our responsibility to try and help add to that. We have a responsibility to try and bring European football back.”
