Nigella delights fans with chippy pic

TELLY chef Nigella Lawson ditched the posh nosh as she tucked into Scots culinary delights during a trip north of the Border.

The TV cook enjoyed breakfast Buckfast, chips from the Blue Lagoon and langoustines from the more upmarket Rogano restaurant.

Nigella, who was here for the wedding of author Andrew O’Hagan and Lindsey Milligan, described the chips as “perfect” and “exquisitely vinegary” in a Twitter post.

The Blue Lagoon chippy has a history of supplying grub to celebs. Justin Bieber famously popped in for BY STEPHEN STEWART s-stewart@dailyrecord.co.uk a haggis supper in 2016. Nigella wrote yesterday: “Perfect end to the perfect day: best chips, exquisitely vinegary, from the Blue Lagoon Glasgow. Thanks to @HoratiaL for the photograph (and the chips).”

Social media users loved that she had opted for the traditional food.

One said: “Brilliant that Nigella is in Glasgow this weekend eating chips from the Blue Lagoon, hinging about with the radge at Central Station and drinking Bucksecco. Absolute queen. Give her the keys to the city.”

David B added: “This is quite amazing – my favourite chippy.”

Chippy boss Simone Varese said: “It was really good to hear that she enjoyed her chips. It’s good to know that celebrities are choosing us when they want a chippy.

“We might look into dedicating a bag of chips to Nigella like we did with Justin and haggis.”
