Rick’s best chippy will cost £850k
BY SARAH WARD A CHIPPY described by celebrity chef Rick Stein as serving “the best fish and chips” he had ever tasted is up for sale.
The Oban Fish and Chip Shop, in the heart of the Argyll town, will set you back £850,000.
It was made famous by Rick’s praise in an episode of the BBC’s Food Heroes programme in 2002.
It made headlines in 2013 when it emerged that two other chip shops in the town claimed they were Rick’s favourite.
Owners Lillian Hutchison and her husband George decided to sell the takeaway and restaurant, which seats 40 guests, so they can retire.
Agent Mark Lavery said: “The restaurant is ideally located to capture the tourism trade.”
