GRIFFITHS: I’M GUNNING FOR 10 IN A ROW

- BY ANTHONY HAGGERTY

CELTIC star Leigh Griffiths insists he’s gunning for 10-in-a-row after signing a new four-year deal.

Griffiths was under contract until 2021 but the striker has now extended his stay by a further year.

The 28-year-old reached the milestone of 100 goals for the Hoops when he scored during the 3-0 Europa League win over Suduva.

With Moussa Dembele leaving to join Lyon, Griffiths now wants to be a main man for Celts as they bid to make history by becoming the first Scottish team to win 10 successive titles.

He said: “I’m here for the 10-in-a-row bid but my main focus now is trying to get in the team, staying as fit as possible and trying to get my goal tally up.

“I’ve hit the 100 mark now and I want to aim for greater heights. Hopefully there’s still a lot more to come. The main aim is to be here for as long as I can and for Celtic to have shown that faith in me to sign me for another four years makes me ecstatic.

“I had the opportunity to move but I wanted to stay and fight for my place.”
