My evil parents killed 30 more victims
Wests’ daughter reveals extent of murder spree
THE daughter of Fred and Rosemary West believes her parents could have killed up to 30 more women in their reign of terror.
Mae West has revealed she thought her mum was innocent for a decade before turning against her.
The 46-year-old told of the terrifying experience of growing up in the “house of horrors” with her serial killer parents in Gloucester.
Fred West murdered at least 12 women, including Mae’s sister Heather. He killed himself in prison.
His wife Rosemary is serving 12 life sentences for her part in the rapes and murders between 1967 and 1987.
Mae, a mum of two, said her grown-up daughter has tried to come to terms with her grandparents’ identity after she stumbled on it by chance.
On one occasion, her friends – not knowing the family connection – dressed up as Fred and Rosemary at a Halloween party.
Mae, who has written a book called Love As Always, Mum, said in a TV interview yesterday: “We thought Heather ran away. I used to think everything (my parents) did was strange.
“People ask me, ‘Do you think he stopped?’ and I don’t think he did. I think he stopped using the house.”
Mae said her young son doesn’t know who his grandparents are.
She said: “I thought he may have brought it up but he hasn’t.
“(My daughter) never talked about it. She thinks, ‘Oh well, that’s your background’.
“Someone went as mum and dad to a fancy dress ball she just said, ‘Mum you’ll never guess, someone went as your parents’.”
