MONSTER UNMASKED AS HE TURNS 18
BY JAMES MONCUR & MICHAEL PRINGLE A CHAMPION stock car racer can be revealed as a child rapist after he turned 18.
James Dillon was convicted of assaulting two young cousins after a trial at the High Court in Livingston last month.
He was immediately added to the sex offenders’ register and will be sentenced in Glasgow, in two weeks.
Dillon, from Edinburgh, represents the famous Mayfield Mob racing team with his father, also James.
The pair are known for driving limousines and hearses at events around the UK.
Dillon’s identity was revealed as he celebrated his 18th birthday on Friday, just two weeks before his sentencing appearance.
Last night, a relative of the two victims, who were aged eight when the assaults began – and who both gave video evidence – revealed their disgust at the crimes.
They said: “What happened to the girls was horrific. Dillon should be locked up for a very long time.
“People think he’s a big shot stock car driver when that couldn’t be further from the truth. He put those two girls through many horrible attacks for two years and tried to deny it ever took place. Prison is too good for him.”
The relative added: “He was finally caught when one of the girls had a sex education class at school and went home and spoke about the attacks and the police were called in.
“Both girls described things that had happened to them that children that young should not know anything about.”
Dillon sexually abused both girls when he was just 13, a jury heard in August.
He had denied raping one of the youngsters over a two-year period, when she was aged between eight and 10.
He also pled not guilty to sexually assaulting the second girl when she, too, was aged between eight and 10.
He was convicted of committing the offences at addresses in Dalkeith, East Lothian, where he lives.
On August 30, a jury took just over four hours to return majority verdicts, finding Dillon guilty of both charges.
Both girls gave evidence that he exposed himself to them in private before committing the sexual offences against them.
Judge Lord Summers told Dillon: “Given your age, I require to receive a great deal more about you by way of background.”
