TORY TOFFS SHAME PARTY WITH VILE PICTURE
Conservative uni society pic shows young toffs with ‘F ** K the NHS’ message and Hitler moustache
A CONSERVATIVE university society have been suspended after this vile picture was published on Facebook.
Some Tory members wore T-shirts scrawled with far-right graffiti, including one which read: “F**k the NHS.”
Conservative Party HQ launched an immediate investigation and announced they would suspend any party members involved.
The photo of the Plymouth University Conservative Society was taken last week at a pub in the city.
One student in the image appeared to sport an Adolf Hitler style moustache. The president of the Plymouth University Conservative Society, Jake Thurman, is in the middle of the photo.
Among the others identified by fellow students are Daniel Phillips-O’Leary, who has a “F**k the NHS” slogan on his chest.
Ross Horton has messages mentioning “Barack Obama”, “Jude” (German for “Jew”) and a Star of David.
Gestures he is making with his hands have been used in the past by white supremacists.
Charlie Edleston-Haynes has a slogan containing the word “Enoch”, seemingly in reference to Enoch Powell. The only woman in the group is former grammar school pupil Merete Strange.
Thurman is currently attending the Conservative Party conference in Birmingham and refused to comment.
He has previously posted photos on his Twitter feed posing with Nigel Farage, Boris Johnson and Jacob Rees-Mogg.
On a students’ forum, he describes himself as: “A member of the Conservative Party and Conservative Way Forward. Chair of ‘Students for Britain Plymouth’.” It is unclear if all the people photographed are members of the society.
The controversial picture was posted on Facebook but later removed.
Local Labour MP Luke Pollard criticised their conduct.
Pollard said: “There’s no place for hate in our society and these young Tories have demonstrated there should be no place for them in politics until they grow up.”
A Conservative party spokesman said: “We are investigating this matter and will suspend those people identified as members of the party.”
