Edoardo can’t wait to finally catch up with his kid

IT will now be a double celebratio­n when Edoardo Molinari finally catches up next week with his younger brother Francesco.

The siblings haven’t seen each other since well before Francesco’s stunning Open victory at Carnoustie in July.

Not only did Francesco become the first Italian to win a Major but the 35-year-old last Sunday became the first European player BY BERNIE McGUIRE to win five out of five matches at a Ryder Cup.

And it was Molinari who secured the point needed for victory after singles opponent Phil Mickelson conceded defeat after one of the worst tee shots all week at Le Golf National.

And what’s more remarkable is that Molinari had played on the 2010 and 2012 victorious European teams but managed just half a point in each.

The Molinari brothers made their debut in 2010 at Celtic Manor after Edoardo left Colin Montgomeri­e no option but to select him as a wild card when he birdied the closing four holes to capture the Johnnie Walker Championsh­ip at Gleneagles, the last qualifying event.

Three months earlier Edoardo became the first Italian to win the Scottish Open. But since their Wales appearance he has struggled, only capturing last year’s Hassan II Trophy while Francesco has won a first Major, four other European Tour events and also this year a first regular PGA Tour title.
