TEVITA CAN BE FAN FAVE
RUGBY
DAVE RENNIE believes powerful Tevita Tameilau will be an instant hit with Glasgow fans.
The USA star makes his Warriors debut tonight as an impact sub in the Pro14 showdown with high-flying Zebre.
And coach Rennie is tipping 28-year-old Tameilau to dazzle the Scotstoun faithful as he bids to feature in next weekend’s Heineken Champions Cup opener with Saracens.
Rennie said: “Tevita was late in joining up with the squad but now supporters will witness his physicality and athleticism.
“He is a really imposing figure – a powerful and fast player who has the ability to regularly break the gain line.
“He is a very exciting signing for us who will make a difference.”
But Glasgow boss Rennie is wary of the attacking threat of Zebre who arrive at Scotstoun on the back of their best start to a league campaign.
He said: “They are a really dangerous side.
“They are one of the leading teams in the competition in terms of offloads and line breaks, so defensively we’ll have to be at our best.”
Forwards Andrew Davidson and Adam Nicol will make their first starts for the Warriors after only making the bench against the Dragons last week.
Winger Rory Hughes comes back from a long injury lay-off and George Horne is recalled at scrum-half.
Zebre will be skippered by Italy lock George Biagi who was born in Irvine.
