Firm in the fast lane

-

From small beginnings – just one delivery van operating in and around Glasgow – Courier Connections (Scotland) has become a well-established distribution service connecting Scotland to the rest of the UK, Ireland and mainland Europe.

With a fleet of vehicles, depots in Glasgow, Edinburgh and Perth and a long-standing partnership with Pallet-Track Ltd, the business offers a comprehensive service.

Customer demand has been increasing year on year, and Courier Connection’s growth strategy aims to increase its turnover by 15% per year. To help achieve this, it’s opening a new depot at Eurocentral on the outskirts of Glasgow which, at 15,000 sq ft, is three times the size of their site at Bellshill.

This significant investment coincided with the need to find funding to secure their fleet of 14 Mercedes HGVs.

Step forward Lombard, the asset finance provider that Courier Connections has worked with since 2004. A Hire Purchase arrangement was swiftly agreed, enabling the business to acquire all the vehicles, free of any tie-ins to maintenance contracts.

“Lombard’s approach benefits our business in two ways,” explains Martin, founder and MD of Courier Connections. “Having complete control over maintenance and servicing will save us money, and at the end of the finance term we’ll own the vehicles outright.”
