Kissing goodbye to his relationship
HE’S been called “controlling” by his now ex-girlfriend and, when denying an affair, Strictly contestant Seann Welsh made things worse by reportedly gaslighting her. When his girlfriend, actor Rebecca Humphries, asked him if there was something going on with his co-star Katya Jones, he denied it and allegedly called her “a psycho/nuts/mental”.
Then Seann and Katya were photographed kissing outside a pub – on Rebecca’s birthday.
Her family, friends and thousands of people on the internet who are appalled by his behaviour have rallied round.
She is using this horrible public meltdown of her relationship to warn other women about controlling men and potentially dangerous relationships.
Rebecca wrote on Twitter: “To any woman out there who deep down feels worthless and trapped with a man they love – believe in yourself and your instincts. It’s more than lying. It’s controlling.”
Not everyone in a toxic relationship has a strong support network and a public voice to call out their abuser.
Rebecca has done a brave, important thing.
Next year, the Scottish Government’s groundbreaking legislation on allegations and claims of mistreatment in relationships will come into force.
It can’t come soon enough.
