Extra joy at Eugenie’s big day
HARRY and Meghan told the Queen and other senior royals about the baby at Princess Eugenie’s wedding.
As Meghan had only just had her 12-week scan, and she and Harry were leaving for Australia at the weekend, the wedding at Windsor last Friday was the perfect chance to break the news.
A senior palace source said: “It was really the first opportunity they had to tell all the family at once seeing as it has just gone past the threemonth stage.
“It was top secret until then and it was just immediate family and the closest of friends who were told before they announced it to the world.
“They are over the moon and have been incredibly touched by all the amazing good wishes that have come from all over the world.”
About 40 members of the Royal Family were at the wedding at St George’s Chapel, in Windsor Castle, which is BY RUSSELL MYER where Harry, 34, and Meghan, 37, wed in May.
Regarding the timing of their announcement, a royal aide insisted: “Harry and Meghan would never dream of stealing Eugenie and Jack’s thunder.”
The aide added that happy couple Eugenie, 28, and Jack Brooksbank, 32, were “thrilled for them both” when told about the baby.
The senior palace source said: “Everyone is hugely excited about the news. The whole family are very happy they were all able to congratulate the couple in person before they left for their first major overseas tour.”
