Caldwell urges Jags fans to back his revival mission

-

FROM BACK PAGE won’t happen overnight after replacing Alan Archibald who was sacked following the defeat to Ross County 10 days ago.

Partick currently languish in eighth place in the Championship but Caldwell believes he can achieve a great deal with the backing of the Firhill faithful.

He said: “There are exciting plans in place. There is a huge amount of potential in this squad.

“It won’t happen overnight. We can’t do it on our own, I need support from the fans and so do the players.

“If we are together then we can achieve a massive amount.”

Jacqui Low revealed Jags chiefs are certain they have the right man to secure promotion after being “blown away” by Caldwell’s interview preparation.

And the chairman promised to back him with funds in the January transfer window.

She said: “In the space of a week, he had done an analysis of each player and pulled together a vision of how to get Partick playing well enough to secure promotion.

“He plans to build a strong defence allowing us to play attacking football. He can’t succeed on his own so the board will back him in January if he wants to strengthen the squad.

“Gary is a driven individual with a clear vision and plan to succeed.”

Brian Kerr joins Caldwell as his assistant after quitting as boss of Lowland League East Kilbride. Partick face Alloa on Saturday.
