Booth: Five-star Barca are just different class

SCOTT BOOTH admits Glasgow’s City’s heavy defeat at the Mini Estadi, in the Nou Camp’s shadow, showed the gulf between his side and Barcelona.

Two goals just before the interval put paid to a spirited effort and left the second half as a damage limitation exercise in the by ALAN CAMPBELL first leg of City’s last-16 Champions League clash.

Booth said: “At times Barca’s movement, passing and understanding of the game was on a different level. We started with a 16-year-old who is still at school. They are bringing internationals off the bench.

“When you’re chasing the game you need to bring on fresh legs at least of the same level. Right now we don’t have that. Given that, it’s a fair scoreline.”

France midfielder Kheira Hamraoui took advantage of poor City defending to fire Barca ahead in the 12th minute.

Lee Alexander made a fine save at the feet of Aitana Bonmati but the Spain midfielder had the ball in the net in the 38th minute.

Three minutes later despite Alexander halting two attempts, the ball fell to Spain star Patricia Guijarro who made it 3-0.

After the break the City keeper’s blunder let Andressa Alves’s shot slip through her hands and into the net. Maria Leon’s low shot made it five – and Booth’s side were relieved to hear the final whistle.
