We can stun Celts – just like last year

-

RYAN PORTEOUS insists Hibs can draw on their displays against Celtic last season as they aim to stun the champions at Parkhead.

Neil Lennon’s men claimed a 2-1 win over the Hoops when the sides last met at Easter Road.

The Hibees also played out 2-2 draws in Leith and in Glasgow.

The other two matches between the teams were won by Celtic but Hibs were far from outclassed by Brendan Rodgers’ double Treble winners.

They renew hostilities at Celtic Park on Saturday, with the visitors on a run of four-successive league victories and riding high in second spot – a point ahead of the Hoops.

Hibs defender Porteous, 19, said: “Last year we gave Celtic five really good games so hopefully we can do that again.

“We’ve had a good start and I’ve enjoyed playing a part in it. It will be a tough game on Saturday but one we’re all eager to impress in.

“It’s a good run of form we are on and we want that to keep going.”

Porteous hopes to bounce back from Scotland Under-21 heartbreak after the 2-0 defeat by England at Tynecastle.

Scot Gemmill’s men were outclassed by the Auld Enemy and it is a learning curve Porteous will cherish, despite missing out on Euro 2019 qualification.

He said: “Playing at this level has taught me a lot. The whole team did well. There are definitely positives to take away from the match.

“I’m always hungry to learn and continue to develop. There are always ways you can improve and, just like the rest of the team, I’m eager to continue doing that and hope I get more opportunities with Scotland moving forward.”
