RETURN OF THE MAC AT DENS

- BY ALAN MARSHALL

JIM McINTYRE is the new boss of Dundee – appointed just one day after Neil McCann was axed at Dens Park.

The club moved swiftly to replace McCann, who departed on Tuesday night with Dundee bottom of the Premiership having lost seven of their

allocation for the game against Steven Gerrard’s Rangers and face an SPFL rap for the way they handled ticket sales.

Record Sport revealed league bosses have written to the Pittodrie club expressing anger after they ignored instructions to sell their briefs block by block in the east stand.

Instead, the Dons have sold the seats with the best sight lines to their most loyal fans, which could see up to 10,000 go unsold.

Gers are upset more of their fans will be denied a chance to see the clash on October 28, with segregation now impossible under the Dons sales plan.

But McInnes stepped up to urge the Red Army to buy the briefs and boost hopes of repeating their 2014 success.

He said: “The fans were excellent at Easter Road and played their part in getting us through. We’re now one step away from another final and you can help make this another memorable occasion.

“The crowd’s important to the players and can be the key difference in a result. The club fought hard to get the increased ticket allocation and it’d be good to see that rewarded with a strong turnout.”
