Feeder plan if Easdales seal Morton takeover bid

- BY ALAN MARSHALL

THE Easdale brothers could turn Morton into a feeder club for English leagues if their potential takeover goes through.

Cappielow chairman Crawford Rae last night

confirmed Record Sport’s exclusive that James and Sandy Easdale have teamed up with their former Rangers boardroom colleague Derek Llambias and ex-Newcastle scout Graham Carr to launch an attempted buyout.

The quartet have close ties to Mike Ashley and have been advised of the potential to make Ton a feeder club.

An Easdales spokesman confirmed they’re interested in clinching a deal but added: “It’s early days. There’s been no bid, it’s exploratory at the moment. There’s a good chance a bid will be made.

“Morton are the Easdales’ home team. It has a romantic notion but also of business interest. English friends believe that, with proper investment, Morton could be a feeder club for English leagues.”

Rae said: “To have interest from such high-calibre individuals suggests we must be doing something right.”

Meanwhile, Police Scotland have been put on high alert as Ray McKinnon prepares to return to Cappielow.

Worried Falkirk bosses are set to heighten security around their manager as he heads to Morton for the first time since quitting in August.

Bairns fans will travel with security guards as alternative routes are considered for the team bus.
