Wee Jimmy Krankie skins legs in panto promo

- BY SALLY HIND s.hind@dailyrecord.co.uk

IT’S NOT the first time she’s taken a tumble at the panto.

But Janette Krankie put on a brave face yesterday after skinning her shins as she promoted her upcoming show at Glasgow’s SEC.

In 2004, the star was left with serious injuries, including a fractured skull and a broken collarbone and ribs, when she plunged up to 20ft from a beanstalk with co-star Gary Hollywood.

And medics were on hand again yesterday when the 71-year-old, real name Janette Tough, injured her legs during a photo call for Cinderella.

Janette, alias Wee Jimmy Krankie, took a tumble from a giant mobile Cinderella slipper and was left with plasters on her legs.

But the 4ft 6in panto star, who plays Buttons in the family favourite, carried on with the show in true professional style.

Janette spoke in 2014 of the fall which hospitalised her and Mrs Brown’s Boys star Gary while they performed in Jack and Beanstalk at Glasgow’s Pavilion Theatre.

She said: “All I remember is falling and hearing my husband Ian, who played the dame, shouting, ‘Don’t touch her, don’t move her’. After that, I was out for the count until I woke at Glasgow Royal Infirmary a couple of hours later.”

Janette remained in hospital for 10 days and Gary was treated for concussion but both made a full recovery.

The Krankies, with Ian as Baron Hardup, will star in Cinderella from December 12 to 30.
