Hollywood bomber

Anti-Trump stars on alert after maniac sends IED to De Niro

-

SECURITY around some of Hollywood’s biggest stars has increased after two more critics of Donald Trump were sent suspected bombs.

Yesterday, a device was sent to Robert De Niro at his restaurant in Manhattan. Two for former vice president Joe Biden were intercepted in Delaware. At least 10 devices have been sent to prominent Democrats or critics of the president. Film stars Meryl Streep, Cher, Ben Stiller, Alec Baldwin and Arnold Schwarzenegger are all thought to be potential targets of the bomb-maker. British star John Oliver, who hosts Last Week Tonight on HBO, is also on the list, along with Amazon owner Jeff Bezos, who has been criticised by Trump. Yesterday police swarmed on De Niro’s Tribeca Grill at 5am after the device was found. The actor has spoken out against Trump. He launched an expletive-laden attack on the president at the Tony Awards in June, during which he said: “F*** Trump.” Trump responded by calling De Niro a “very low IQ individual”. A former FBI agent said yesterday: “Anyone who has publicly spoken out against the president is clearly now a target. “Those who have been most vocal should have, by now, increased security around themselves and their staff, as agents will be working on the pattern that is now emerging.

“Whoever is making these devices will know the higher the profile of the celebrity, the more publicity it will achieve.

“It is only a matter of time before whoever is responsible will be caught. The postal service is extremely advanced and with each package sent, a further piece of the evidential jigsaw will be made.”

The bomber has already targeted the Obamas, the Clintons, CNN and Obama’s former attorney general Eric Holder.

Former CIA director John Brennan, billionaire Democratic Party donor George Soros and Californian Democrat Maxine Waters were also sent IEDs.

The maker of the devices – none of which went off – has been nicknamed the “MAGA bomber” after Trump’s election campaign slogan Make America Great Again.

Trump has been accused of stirring up the anger behind the attempted attacks with vicious political rhetoric.

But yesterday, he blamed the media.

He said: “A very big part of the anger we see today in our society is caused by the purposely false and inaccurate reporting of the mainstream media that I refer to as fake news.

“It has gotten so bad and hateful that it is beyond description. Mainstream media must clean up its act, FAST.”

In a tweet to Trump, Brennan said: “Stop blaming others. Look in the mirror. Your inflammatory rhetoric, insults, lies and encouragement of physical violence are disgraceful. Clean up your act, try to act presidential. The American people deserve much better.

“BTW, your critics will not be intimidated into silence.”

Before his verbal attack on the media, Trump decried political violence during a scripted event in the White House.

He said: “Acts or threats of political violence have no place in the United States. This egregious conduct is abhorrent.”

Later at a rally in Wisconsin, he urged unity.

“Let’s get along,” Trump added. “By the way, do you see how nice I’m behaving tonight? Have you ever seen this?”

Democratic Senate and House leaders Chuck Schumer of New York and Nancy Pelosi of California said such words “ring hollow” when coming from Trump.
