BEER-FREE EURO 2020 VENUE
NO
David Hamilton, vice chairman of the Scottish Police Federation
He said: “We feel strongly that football is a problem area of policing for our members in terms of the kind of behaviour we experience.
“Adding alcohol to that does not make any sense.
“Clubs need to get their act together in terms of how some of their fans behave in stadia.
“The pitch invasion at the Scottish Cup final in 2016 had many of the hallmarks of the 1980 final, and that was the match all those years ago that led to the ban.
“If that kind of thing is still going on, adding alcohol will not help.
“We still see serious issues with pyrotechnics, vandalism, liquids being thrown at our members.
“There is no question that alcohol fuels bad behaviour among a minority of fans. We just do not want to see things getting any worse.”

John Nelms, managing director of Dundee FC
He said: “We’re in the entertainment business and having a beer and watching the match with your mates would be fantastic.
“Just a few weeks ago I was at the Man City versus Liverpool match and they had beer at that game. They are football fans and they behaved appropriately.
“I know there have been problems in the past but in the modern day, I think it’s much less of an issue. I also think it would help boost attendances, especially for the smaller clubs.”
