Drunk fiend knifed partner 12 times

-

BY WILMA RILEY reporters@dailyrecord.co.uk A THUG who stabbed his partner 12 times in a row over a smashed coffee table has been jailed for six years.

Francis McCudden, 54, was high on heroin and drink when he lashed out with two knives during a frenzied attack on Angela Rae, the High Court in Glasgow heard.

He admitted attempting to murder Angela at their flat in Coatbridge on March 4.

Sentencing McCudden yesterday, Judge Lady Scott told him: “Medical opinion is that your victim could have died. She now has restricted mobility, is in pain and is too frightened to go out alone.”

The court earlier heard Angela, 40, was woken up by a thumping noise on the night of the attack. She went through to the living room to find the table in pieces and a row broke out.

Angela ran from the flat covered from head to toe in blood to escape her partner of nine months. She collapsed outside a neighbour’s home.

She was rushed to hospital, where she needed life-saving surgery.

Angela had four stab wounds to her right leg, one to her thigh, one to her left leg, two to the abdomen, one to the left breast and three to her back.

She had to have her spleen removed and had 38 staples inserted in her stomach.

Angela, who has released photos of her scars, said: “I was convinced I was going to die.

“He looked like a devil and just kept stabbing me.

“I want to warn other women to steer clear of him. He comes across as charming but he is a dangerous man.

“The sentence could have been longer but I feel a bit safer knowing he is behind bars.”
