Holt: Dolly’s hurting as ban KO’s his trip to Ibrox
LIVINGSTON boss Gary Holt doesn’t need to tell off Dolly Menga for picking up a two-game ban – because the striker is already gutted he’ll miss the trip to Rangers.
The Angola international was handed a retrospective suspension by the SFA after being caught on camera aiming a headbutt at Ryan Christie during the goalless draw with Celtic.
Menga will now have to sit out next Saturday’s trip to Ibrox and the visit of Motherwell the week after.
Holt insists the incident is a one-off and says the 25-year-old is kicking himself at not getting the chance to replicate his scoring feat against Steven Gerrard’s side.
Menga netted the winner in September’s meeting and Holt said: “I know it will be an isolated incident because we’ve never seen it before.
“It’s one of those things, it happens – he’s been given a ban and we move on.
“He’s taken it on the chin, he is a nice lad. He’s learned from it and we’ve learned from it. We have to educate him in the right way of reacting to situations.
“The disappointing thing for Dolly is he would have been going to Ibrox in front of 50,000 and it would have been a chance for him to showcase his talents.
“That’s something he’ll have to deal with, it’s tough love sometimes. He’ll sit there and think about it. It’s disappointing for him and us. We are not the only club that have been done retrospectively. We agree with it and move on.”
Holt, meanwhile, is “delighted” defender Ricki Lamie has agreed a new one-year deal that will keep him at the Tony Macaroni Arena until summer 2020.
