Scot’s relief after court case ends

Crispin Lamont, 43, faced allegations that he tricked his ex into having sex with him by falsely promising to marry her two-and-a-half years ago.
That is a crime in India and carries a maximum jail sentence of 10 years.
But Crispin, who runs a chain of fitness centres, has now been cleared by a court in Delhi and has vowed to stay on in his adopted home to rebuild his shattered life.
The businessman, from Perthshire, insists he never offered to marry former girlfriend Shomita Goswami and there was never any allegations sex was anything other than consensual.
Speaking from India, he said: “I was able to leave the country but stayed because I wanted to see it through. The support I have had has been beautiful. My business is in India and everyone has been so supportive.”
Crispin, who has lived in New Delhii for over a decade, had been held in the notorious Tihar jail for six weeks in 2016 before he was released on bail.
The prison – dubbed India’s Alcatraz – contains more than 13,000 of the country’s most violent men.
