Alarmed student claims her creepy classmate is copying her clothes and lifestyle.. down to the smallest detail

-

BY JAMES MONCUR AND MARK MCGIVERN UNIVERSITY chiefs launched a probe after a student claimed a classmate had put her through an online copycat “stalking” ordeal.

Horrified Chloe Cowan only recently discovered that fellow undergraduate Honey Basra had allegedly been mirroring her lifestyle to the tiniest detail for two years.

The stunning 21-year-old was completely unaware of the alleged creepy campaign by Basra – a fellow law student at Dundee University.

But the extent of the doppelganger’s claimed deeds – which also included re-enacting photos Chloe used when her dad died – has been shocking.

Whenever Chloe posted images and captions on social media, Basra allegedly copied them within hours on Instagram, even using the same poses, clothes and wording.

And when Chloe and her big sister, Linzi, looked further into what was happening, they discovered hundreds of the bizarre photos.

Yesterday, Linzi took to Facebook to warn others about the dangers of social media.

The 27-year-old, from Glasgow, who posted more than 40 pictures to back her claims and said the police had been notified, wrote: “Don’t even know where to start with this but just want to let people know the dangers of social media.

“My sister Chloe is at Dundee University and another girl living in Dundee (who my sister wasn’t aware of until this week) has been re-enacting her life on Instagram for almost two years.

“This girl’s stalking behaviour is to the extreme of re-enacting videos of a photo album that Chloe posted of my dad who passed away (gives me the shivers when I think about it). “This girl doesn’t follow my sister on social media and had made a fake account to stalk her without her knowing.”

And she explained that while “imitation is flattering”, Basra’s campaign had gone “too far”, adding: “Her behaviour is not OK and I just wanted this out in the open for people to be aware of just how scary social media can be.

“My sister should not have to hide away in worry of her every move being stalked by another girl. Imitation is flattering but this is just too far.” Linzi also claimed to
