GOTTA ROLL WITH IT

- BY GARRY OWEN

CASH in on ROLL THE DOUGH (2.35) in the Starlight Wishes Handicap Chase at Kempton.

The gelding has improved rapidly since being dropped in trip by Phillip Hobbs and recorded another personal best when scoring cosily at Hereford.

The nine-year-old’s style is ideal for this track and he can shrug off a 4lb higher mark under Richard Johnson. NO HIDING PLACE (3.10) will show rivals no mercy in the staying handicap hurdle. Nicky Henderson’s gelding was a good second to in-form Sackett at Uttoxeter and can go one better in first-time cheekpieces.

Alan King has hit form and can add to his tally in the lucky last with NYLON SPEED (3.40).

The four-year-old improved again when chasing home Denmead at Huntingdon and can do plenty of damage sent handicapping. Tim Vaughan can kick off a successful raid on Musselburgh with ERIC THE THIRD (12.45). The nine-year-old has been flying over fences and has an attractive mark back hurdling.

The Welsh handler can double up on Saltire Raceday thanks to CAP ST VINCENT (3.0). The five-year-old has thrived over fences and can defy a wellearned 8lb hike for slamming Centre of excellence at Ludlow. Keith Dalgleish can enhance his excellent course record with CUCKOO’S CALLING (1.20). The filly showed some respectable form down south for James Bethell and should win her fair share switched to timber. SOMETHING BREWING (1.55) can pay for a few rounds in the novices chase. Iain Jardine’s gelding has taken well to his new career and will take some beating with a repeat of his fine second to Trongate at Ayr.

Go for Tom Gretton’s BAGAN (2.25) in a trappy novices handicap hurdle. The juvenile’s been solid over timber and is well treated after decent fourth in a warm Fakenham novice. THE OGLEGOGLE MAN (1.05) rates a value bet on a competitive meeting at Ludlow. Charlie Mann’s chaser couldn’t live with the progressive Kovera at Sedgefield but can build on that effort down in trip.

■ Top-class stayers Sam Spinner and Wholestone head the entries for Friday’s Ladbrokes Long Distance Hurdle at Newbury.
