Daryl: We have to be clinical

-

BY ALAN MARSHALL DARYL HORGAN insists Hibs need to brush up at both ends of the park if they are to end a five-game winless rut.

The home side raced 2-0 up at home to Dundee through Genseric Kusunga’s own goal and a Ryan Porteous effort but passed up several chances to put themselves out of sight.

And after being let off the hook when Kenny Miller missed an earlier opening the same player punished Neil Lennon’s side before the break.

Alarming gaps were beginning to appear as Paul McGowan levelled and Republic of Ireland midfielder Horgan, who was unplayable during the first half, admits Hibs have much work to do.

He said: “We got off to such a good start. It was two pivotal moments – don’t concede in the last five minutes, don’t concede in the first five.

“Mistakes cost us. If you don’t take the chances the game changes.

“We were sloppy in the second half, it just wasn’t good enough. We didn’t take our chances and it’s about keeping clean sheets as well.

“In general we were the better team but it finished 2-2 and we’ll need to improve. It’s a kick in the stones really. We know the quality in the squad, there are a lot of good players.

“The way the manager sets us up, we play an enjoyable style that is good to watch – but we need to be more clinical in both boxes.”
