Gers set to swoop for Everton rising star

RANGERS are poised to make a loan swoop for rising Everton star Kieran Dowell next month. Steven Gerrard has identified the 21-year-old Englishman, left, to fill his priority No.10 playmaker
position. The Rangers boss and assistant Gary McAllister watched Dowell score the second goal in a 2-0 win for England Under-21s against Scotland at Tynecastle last month.
Gerrard also saw him in action on a spying trip to the Toulon Tournament in the summer and Dowell was part of England’s triumphant Under-20 World Cup side last year.
Dowell has voiced his frustration at a lack of first-team action under Marco Silva at Goodison with the Toffees boss admitting a loan move is a possibility in January.
He is in competition with Everton’s £40million man Gylfi Sigurdsson and has made just two appearances this season.
Dowell featured in the Carabao Cup defeat to Southampton in October and hasn’t been sighted since, often failing to even make the matchday squad.
Last month Dowell said: “The frustrating thing at the moment is not getting as much game time.” Dowell was rewarded with a new three-year deal at the start of this season after impressing on loan at Nottingham Forest last term where he scored 10 goals in 43 games.
Forest manager Aitor Karanka said: “He will be an amazing player in the future because he has
everything. He is powerful and has technique.”
Silva admits he needs to hold talks with Dowell over his future.
The Everton boss said: “When the moment arrives I will talk with him but you never know what will happen between now and January.”
Meanwhile, ex-Scotland defender Kenny Burns insists Karanka shouldn’t recall Joe Worrall next month. Forest are currently suffering a defensive crisis but Burns said: “Worrall is better off staying on loan at Rangers.
“He’ll learn more up there working for Steven Gerrard and playing in the kind of matches he has been doing.”
