CALLUM McGREGOR says Celtic’s special ones can keep defying logic and racking up honours – as he refused to wallow in the latest one.

Sunday’s Betfred Cup triumph over Aberdeen made it seven successive domestic trophies under Brendan Rodgers.

But typical of the approach of the entire squad, McGregor’s focus has already shifted to the next potential success.

He said: “It’s a special group here and it’s the mentality of players.

“Every single day everyone’s giving their all and the manager’s giving his all. That’s showing in terms of the consistency of the success we’ve had.

“You never lose sight of what you’ve achieved. We’ll take stock, enjoy it, but then we’ll need to think about the Motherwell game and we’ve got a busy festive period coming up to drive on and stay top of the league.

“To be at Celtic, to be at any massive club, you need to be a winner.

“You turn up to games such as Sunday’s final and there’s no other option – you’ve got to win. That’s how this team, this group of players, are so special. They never rest on what they’ve achieved.”

Talk among fans may be of a treble Treble but McGregor said: “We can’t think about the Treble just yet. We have a massive month coming up while the league’s tight.

“That will be our next focus – to try to solidify that place then try to drive teams out of that first place. We relish the challenge though.

“Any time people have said to us, ‘You can’t do this’ or, ‘You can’t do that’ then as a squad we’ve always responded well.”
