Wolf can’t wait to play and win at Parkhead

established as a regular in Rodgers’ midfield and now that he’s made it, there’s no way he’ll give it up without a fight.

He added: “I have played a lot of games but I want to be in the team and play as many as I can.

“I am just grateful to be in the side and I feel I’m getting fitter.

“I feel good and I want to keep going.

“I do feel at my peak just now. I have been playing really well and everything is going well.

“I’m just striving to stay in the team and keep doing well.

“Every now and then, you will need a breather but I feel strong.

“There were a lot of players on the bench who have played a lot of games and that keeps the standard high. Competition for places is vital.

“You could see that against Kilmarnock. Boys are fighting to stay in the team and we produced a great performance.”

Next up for McGregor and Co is another massive European night under the lights at Parkhead.

Celtic seek the point from the visit of Red Bull Salzburg that will see them make the last 32 of the Europa League.

With the Austrians already qualified with maximum points from the first five matches, there’s the chance that they may rest some of their stars.

But regardless of who lines-up for the opposition, McGregor insists Celts will provide the toughest possible test.

He said: “Salzburg were semi-finalists last season and we know how tough it’s going to be.

“If we get a good performance, then you just never know what can happen.

“We are in a good vein of form. The stadium will be rocking and we want to have a good night.

“We have to go in with the mindset of looking to win. We need to try to win. It’s difficult to play for a draw.

“The fans automatically take over and it’s all guns blazing.

“We have to be aggressive in the game but also have a tactical idea that makes sure we aren’t too open.

“It’s a case of being positive – but we need to keep the back door shut too.” BY MARK WALKER RED BULL SALZBURG’S £20 million-rated superkid Hannes Wolf can’t wait to sample the Parkhead atmosphere this week.

But the Austria Under-21 star insists Celtic would be crazy to think his side will ease off in Glasgow.

The Austrian champs are already through with a game to spare and Celtic need just a point to qualify for the knockout round of the Europa League when the sides meet on Thursday.

Red Bull have won all five of their group stage games so far but Brendan Rodgers would have been hugely encouraged by watching Salzburg struggle to rescue a point in their weekend 2-2 draw at Austrian Bundesliga bottom dogs Admira Wacker thanks to a late leveller by Wolf.

He said: “Of course we know about Celtic Park but remember we have played in some very big stadiums across Europe too.

“When we played them in Salzburg everyone said we were going to easily win the game, but in the first half in particular, Celtic matched us and played very well indeed.

“So we know what to expect in Glasgow. There will be 60,000 fans and we know all about the noise that will be generated.

“But if we play the fast football we are capable of we can win. It will be difficult but personally I can’t wait to play in such a game.”

Salzburg boss Marco Rose added: “We will give 100 per cent in Glasgow. We want to win every game we play.

“We are already through but you have to believe me when I tell you we are going all out for the win.

“We already have 15 points out of 15 and it would be disappointing if we didn’t complete the 100 per cent record.

“There’s no question of us taking it easy or not trying as much just because we have already qualified. That’s not the way we work.”
