Shock as pupil Darian, 16, dies suddenly
BY STEFANIE McCOURT reporters@dailyrecord.co.uk A SCHOOLGIRL who died suddenly has been described as “lovely, kind and thoughtful” by her headteacher.
Darian Rouse, 16, passed away on Monday evening.
She was a pupil at Calderside Academy in Blantyre, Lanarkshire, where she was “held in the highest regard”.
Emergency services were called to a home in the town’s Wellcroft Road on Sunday night, with police confirming a 16-year-old girl was taken to hospital after becoming unwell.
Calderside Academy headteacher Skayne Dodds described Darian as “a diligent, hard-working, respectful pupil,” whose passing will have “a profound effect” on all at the school.
He said: “The Calderside school community is saddened by the tragic passing of Darian Rouse.
“Darian was a lovely, kind, thoughtful and sensitive person who was held in the highest regard by her teachers and fellow pupils.
“A diligent, hard-working, respectful pupil, Darian engaged fully with the life of the school.
“Darian’s passing has had a profound effect on the school community and has created a great sense of loss.”
Police said inquiries were ongoing to establish the full circumstances surrounding the death.
Darian’s parents, Mark and Donna, were too upset to speak. Tributes to their daughter and messages of condolence poured in on Facebook.
One said: “Thoughts and prayers to all the family. So sorry for your loss.”
Another posted: “So sorry to hear about Darian, my thoughts and prayers are with you all at this sad time,” while one said: “I can’t even begin to comprehend how you all are feeling.”
