McArthur livid with rogue minority of Pars support who are causing havoc

-

DUNFERMLINE chairman Ross McArthur has branded the behaviour of a minority of his own fans ‘disgraceful’.

And he revealed the families of club employees and even ball boys and girls have been verbally abused.

McArthur insists he has been left with no option but to make a public statement after going into detail about how some supporters have crossed the line.

Amid a frustrating season on the pitch, McArthur has been appalled by the conduct of certain followers.

The Pars chief also divulged how the family of one player was even sent an abusive video during a game, while the toilets in the Legends bar have been deliberately flooded.

McArthur said: “It is disappointing I have to issue this statement – particularly as it relates only to a very small minority of our fans.

“Sadly, these so-called ‘supporters’ have now crossed the line. This is not an attempt to distract from the fact that results are not what any of us would’ve hoped for this season.

“However, what I will not accept is the level of abuse affecting the families of our BY ALAN MARSHALL employees including those of the players, manager and me.

“Sadly, there has been a number of recent instances.”

Referring to unsavoury incidents both during and after the weekend’s defeat at Patrick, McArthur said: “The behaviour of a handful of people in the Dunfermline end at Firhill on Saturday was nothing less than disgraceful and a huge embarrassment to the club.

“But the worst was when the girlfriend and the sister of one of our players was targeted as they left Firhill, with younger male fans verbally abusing them in their faces. These latest incidents follow our office staff being intimidated and insulted, the ticket office and shop staff being abused and our young ball boys/ girls also being insulted.

“A few weeks ago the family of one of our players was sent an abusive video message by a ‘supporter’ during a match.

“And at two of our recent home games some ‘fans’ felt it’d be clever to plug drains in the toilet sinks in Legends so it flooded downstairs.”
