Shaw: We’ll draw faith from Leith battles with Hoops

-

HIBS striker Oli Shaw insists the Leith side can draw confidence from recent home form against Celtic when the Premiership leaders arrive on Sunday.

Neil Lennon’s side collected four points from the two league matches against the Bhoys at Easter Road last season and are determined to build on their victory at Hamilton six days ago following a seven-game winless rut.

Shaw was among the goals in the 2-2 draw last December and goes into the televised clash having netted twice in the last two matches.

Despite injury worries to seven of Lennon’s side Shaw is full of belief that Hibs can give Celtic a fright.

He said: “Celtic are a class side but so are we, we’ve shown we can cause them problems.

“We all know our jobs and what we want to do. We want to put a performance on. More importantly we want to get the win.

“The confidence wasn’t low going into last weekend but we knew we were in a sticky situation and were happy to get the points.

“The fixtures don’t get much easier but we’ll make sure we prepare properly ahead of Sunday.”

Shaw, who has five goals this term, started the last two games at Jamie Maclaren’s expense and the 20-year-old is delighted to firmly be in Lennon’s plans.

He said: “The gaffer has shown faith in me and as a striker that’s what you want – I’m happy to get two goals in two games.”
