PLEASE HELP GIVE HOPE A HAPPY HOME

Fight to bring Romania pup to Scotland

- BY ADRIAN HEARN

A SCOTS animal rescue group pleaded for help yesterday to save a dog called Hope from an uncertain future in Romania.

Hope, a three-year-old Shar Pei, was caught as a stray in the eastern European country and faced death – along with her SEVEN puppies – until Shar Pei Rescue of Scotland got involved.

Their supporters are paying for the family’s food and care until they can be rehomed in Scotland.

But so far, they have only been able to find homes for six of the pups. And unless things change, Hope and one of her pups will have to be left behind. Gina McCallum of Shar Pei Rescue of Scotland said: “Hope was a stray. And in Eastern Europe, strays are treated appallingly.

“They are taken to kill shelters and many die in the most agonising way. That’s why we we try to help dogs in places like Romania and Hungary.

“People have kindly donated to help pay for their food and treatment in Romania until they are ready to travel, and we’ve found loving homes for six of the puppies.

“But we need someone else to come forward to save Hope and her final pup.

“She’s only three years old and she has been such a good mum. If you can help, please get in touch.”

The dogs are due to be flown to the UK on January 8, but Gina needs to raise £1100 to pay for the flight and cover the cost of paperwork.

Anyone who would like to help Hope or support Gina’s work can find Shar Pei Rescue of Scotland on Facebook.
