Will they Mack it through?

EMMERDALE

STV, 7pm JACOB is still furious about Maya and David, especially when everyone keeps asking him about meeting other girls. He makes a decision that will leave Maya simmering.

Meanwhile, Bob tries to change his shift at the pub so he can play an elf at Santa’s Grotto on Christmas Eve but it’s more complicated than he thought. And he’s left despairing by a revelation.

Elsewhere, with tensions rising in the house, Amelia tries to keep the family peace.

Lee Mack and Sally Bretton will have nowhere to hide NOT GOING OUT LIVE

BBC1, 9pm WE’VE had live episodes of EastEnders and Corrie, not to mention that creepy Halloween episode of Inside No 9.

Now, comedian Lee Mack has decided to tread where others have bravely gone before him – going live with his family sitcom. What could possibly go wrong?

Well, plenty usually does anyway for Lee (Lee Mack) and wife Lucy (Sally Bretton), who experience one crisis after another. So, perhaps any slip-ups will just be deemed part of the fun?

We will join them live from their festively adorned living room tonight where the couple will be talking about the Ding Dong Merrily On Live Christmas Spectacular.

This is a variety show they’ve been roped into organising to fundraise for their kids’ school. But they are struggling to find acts, with only one dodgy animal impersonator on the bill so far.

Desperate for help, they turn to Toby (Hugh Dennis) and his uptight wife Anna (Abigail Cruttenden) for help. But will they agree? And is it really a good idea to book a knife-throwing act?

Lee says: “Live episode of a BBC1 sitcom... what could possibly go wrong? Loads. Which, let’s be honest, is why you sadists will be watching. So don’t miss out on seeing me end my career.”

He’s right of course, we’ll be tuning in to see how it all pans out.

But with a 10th series of the hit show in the works for the new year, we’ll be rooting for them.
