THEN MADE MY ACCIESRETURN

-

LENNARD SOWAH is nearing the second anniversary of the day he walked out on Hamilton to try his luck with Hearts.

That he ended up walking back a year-anda-half later might suggest he did so with his tail between his legs.

But the German says he has no regrets about trying to broaden his horizons and feels only happiness he found his way back to the club where he feels at home.

Sowah first joined Accies from hometown team Hamburg in October 2016 on a short-term contract. When he quickly impressed the club prepared to offer him an extended deal only for Hearts to nip in and lure him away on a free on January 3.

That it didn’t work out at Tynecastle, released by the Jambos that summer, has left no scars and Sowah is relishing his second chance at Hamilton after Martin Canning re-signed him in June after a spell with Polish side Cracovia.

Sowah said: “I don’t have any regrets at all about leaving Hamilton and making that move to Hearts. In life you make decisions and everything happens for a reason.

“If it didn’t go well you learn and grow from the experience so I could never say I regret it.

“But I was happy to be come back to Hamilton in BY EUAN McLEAN the summer because I enjoyed my time here during my first spell.

“I always had a good relationship with the manager so it was an easy decision to make knowing how the club is run and the good people here.

“I like Scottish football. I like the mentality here because I like the rough physical nature of football.

“Of course I like German football as well but if you compare it to Scotland it’s definitely more physical here and I relish that.”

Accies boss Canning will demand his players show more bravery against Kilmarnock today than they did in a lacklustre first half at Ibrox.

And Sowah believes they can pull off a surprise. He said: “In the first 15-20 minutes Rangers were constantly going at us. We started playing from the back in the second half and grew in confidence.

“We also had some chances ourselves so there was probably more for us in the game.

“Against a team like Rangers it’s hard to get results but the team played well. Hopefully we can build on that second-half performance for the Kilmarnock game.

“Although we didn’t take the points we played well and showed we were brave in the second half. Now we have to show that from the start against Kilmarnock.”
