WE’LL AVOID A REPEAT OF TV NIGHTMARE

-

ZANDER CLARK has vowed there will be no repeats on the telly this festive season.

The last time St Johnstone featured in a live televised match from McDiarmid Park they lost 6-0 to Celtic.

Rangers travel to Perth in front of the cameras tomorrow and the keeper has promised they won’t be so bad again.

Saints went on an eight-game unbeaten run after that debacle against the Hoops and are looking to bounce back against the Light Blues following a 2-1 loss to Motherwell.

Clark said: “Folk maybe watched that game against Celtic and judged us on it but it was far from what we’re about as a team.

“This game is a chance to show we have turned a corner and that we’re a different side.

“We had clear-the-air talks after the Celtic match and realised we had to get back to the St Johnstone of previous years when we were resolute in defence and hard to break down.

“It’s never nice being on BY GARY RALSTON the end of defeats like that and you start questioning yourselves.

“We started to defend all over the park again. It was too easy for the opposition and it is credit to the boys we came back so strongly and went on that fine run. There are no passengers in our team.”

Saints shipped five at Ibrox in September but Rangers will also come up against a side determined to discover their defensive mojo after losing two goals against Well – the same number conceded in their previous eight games.

Clark said: “We were sloppy against Motherwell. The most frustrating thing was we’d been so solid in defence in our unbeaten run.

“Their two goals were easily preventable and we must ensure we don’t lose goals like that on Sunday.

“We lost at Ibrox earlier this season and any heavy defeat is hard to take.

“It’s not nice when you have to keep picking the ball out of the back of your net.”
