Davidson wants double triumph

-

MURRAY DAVIDSON is praying St Johnstone see in Hogmanay with a top six status.

The Perth midfielder is still smarting after a painful last-gasp 2-1 loss to Rangers last Sunday.

But he reckons maximum points from road trips to St Mirren today and Dundee on Saturday will be the perfect pick-me-up.

Davidson said: “The Rangers game was a chance missed, we played really well.

“We had the balance right between being hard to beat and being a threat so it was frustrating to leave with nothing.

“But we go again now. The St Mirren game is a big one for us because we want to get back on track after two defeats.” BY GORDON BANNERMAN off good results. Usually by this stage there are a few gaps in the league but this year there really is nothing between so many of the teams.

“Getting back into the top six before the break would be nice.

“We don’t want to go into the break on the back of poor results so two wins would be ideal but it’s not going to be easy.

“Both games are away from home and both teams are fighting for their lives, so we will have to match them.”

The 30-year-old insists festive fatigue won’t be a factor.

Davidson said: “I don’t believe in letting yourself feel tired.

“I have never played a game where it comes into the last 20 minutes and you think about having played a few days earlier.

“Everyone has bumps and bruises at this time of the season but when you go on to the pitch and a game starts then the adrenaline will get you through.

“This is a busy time of the year but it’s enjoyable having so many games come thick and fast.”
