SWEET 16 AS ALTIOR NICKS IT

- BY GARRY OWEN

ALTIOR cruised to his 16th straight victory in the Grade 2 Desert Orchid Chase at Kempton.

Nicky Henderson’s superstar justified odds of 1-8 when crushing Diego Du Charmil (11-1) by 19 lengths under an ice-cool Nico De Boinville.

Dynamite Dollars (3-1) gunned down Kalashnikov in the earlier Wayward Lad Novices’ Chase. Paul Nicholls’ gelding jumped and travelled far better than the 4-6 jolly and stayed on well to land the Grade 2 by a length-and-a-quarter under Harry Cobden.

Nicholls’ was also in luck at Chepstow as Quel Destin (7-4) landed the Finale Juvenile Hurdle under Sam TwistonDavies, showing a cracking attitude to see off Adjali (4-6 Fav) by a neck.

Meanwhile ATTENTION

PLEASE (2.40) can repeat last year’s success in today’s feature chase at Catterick.

Rose Dobbin’s gelding has run with credit since that win and can shrug off a 4lb hike for outpointing Elomo at Musselburgh last time.

BALLASALLA (2.05) can land an interesting novices’ handicap chase for Donald McCain.

The six-year-old ran a blinder when second to Divine Port on his fencing bow at Carlisle and can put that experience to good use today.

TICKENWOLF (3.15) can make a winning return to timber in the conditionals contest.

Mickey Hammond’s gelding was pulled up over fences at Hexham but can take advantage of an inviting mark over the smaller obstacles.

Kim Bailey remains in form and he can claim the maiden at Leicester with EARLY

LEARNER (12.50). The mare showed real ability when second to Laughing Luis on her timber bow over course and distance and this progressive type can go one better.

Henry Olive is also enjoying a profitable spell and can add to his tally with HIJRAN (3.05).

The five-year-old comfortably defeated Everlanes at Hereford last time and remains open to plenty more progress over hurdles.
