Hazard’s target is still not clear

-

BY PAUL BROWN EDEN HAZARD has dodged another chance to pledge his future to Chelsea after chalking up a club milestone.

Hazard made it 101 goals for the Blues with a double in Wednesday’s 2-1 win at Watford, becoming only the 10th player ever to hit a century for them.

He has also now been involved in more goals – 19 – than any other player in the Premier League this season.

But Hazard reckons he still hasn’t hit the form that helped him win footballer of the year honours in 2015 when Chelsea won the league with him on the wing.

Hazard, playing as a centre-forward right now, set tongues wagging at Watford by claiming he wants to become a Blues legend.

But asked whether that was a hint he’ll snub a move to Real Madrid and sign a new deal, he said: “I am just focused on the pitch, I’ll see at the end of the season.

“Am I playing better than I did the year I won footballer of the year? I score more goals but I don’t feel I play better. I just score more goals.”

The Belgium star, who will be entering the final year of his contract next summer, has always insisted he prefers playing on the wing.

Hazard added: “I get more chances through the middle but my position is winger. I feel better as a winger.

“The manager chooses where to put me on the pitch and then I try to do my best.”
