GEMMA Collins hopes to inspire “all the curvy dolls out there” as she appears in the new series of Dancing On Ice. The star of The Only Way Is Essex, 37, said she is determined to prove that size is no obstacle.

She said: “My biggest supporters will be all the curvy dolls out there.

“I’m doing this show to show all the ladies that it doesn’t matter what size you are or who you are, you can achieve anything.”

Gemma also told how she plans to shed weight during her time on the ITV show.

She said: “I’m always saying that I’m going to get fit then time runs away with me.

“The fact that I’ll be working on a show where you actually train as part of it is a very exciting prospect for me. Yes, it’s going to be tough – but it’s worth it.”

Gemma, who is dating TOWIE co-star James Argent, added: “I’ve been saying for the last couple of years I want to lose weight. “Things are going well with myself and James and I do want to have a baby next year.” Gemma is one of six contestants in the opening show, with the remaining skaters taking part in week two. Coronation Street star Jane Danson will also skate on the opening show. The actress, 40, who plays Leanne Battersby, said: “I’m used to a schedule and I’ve got my head around that bit. I just want to get out there and do it.” Others skating in week one include singer Saara Aalto, Grease star Didi Conn, actor Mark Little and former Strictly dancer James Jordan. James said: “It’s a lot harder than I thought. Everyone’s expecting me to be good but they should bring their expectations down a bit. I can’t ice skate.” Dancing On Ice, which will again be hosted by Holly Willoughby and Phillip Schofield, is on ITV at 6pm on January 6.
