COACH BACKS HASTINGS IN CUP RETURN

GLASGOW v EDINBURGH

-

REVENGE-SEEKING boss Dave Rennie has backed Adam Hastings to rescue Glasgow’s festive season.

The coach yesterday handed the playmaker a massive vote of confidence by picking him for the return 1872 derby clash with Edinburgh today.

Two Hastings howlers handed the Gunners the tries that clinched the win in the inter-city opener at Murrayfield last week.

But Rennie insisted he has faith in the youngster for today’s crucial return at Scotstoun.

He said: “Adam has had a really good season. He got caught flat a couple of times at Murrayfield and Edinburgh put him under a bit of pressure.

“The fact is that both the misjudged passes resulted in intercepts and he will learn from the experience.

“Other than that he has been having a good run and we want to show a bit of faith in that and give him an immediate chance to redeem himself.”

Rennie has made six changes to his line-up, including the recall of star centre Alex Dunbar in the wake of a twomonth absence.

Edinburgh lead 23-7 ahead of the clash and boss SCOTSTOUN, 3PM, LIVE ON PREMIER SPORTS Richard Cockerill has warned his players to be on their guard.

He said: “We were delighted with the result and the performance in the first encounter.

“But we know they’ll be hurting and we expect them to come back at us even stronger.

“Wounded Warriors are dangerous and no matter what happened last week, Glasgow are an extremely good team and we have a lot of respect for them.

“This weekend will be a whole new ball game and they will look on it as a big opportunity on their own patch.

“We had a bit of luck at Murrayfield and the errors they made are unlikely to happen again.

“Last year was very tough for us at Scotstoun and they kept a clean sheet. But there were a lot of positives for us to take away from Murrayfield.

“The boys have enjoyed a little bit of time off over Christmas and we’re excited for the huge challenge that awaits us.”
