I’m keeping the Raith as we reel in Red Lichties

-

NATHAN FLANAGAN has urged Raith Rovers to treat every game like last weekend’s must-win against Arbroath if they want to storm their way to the title.

The Stark’s Park men knew they had to beat the league leaders if they were to have any chance of reeling in the Red Lichties in the second half of the campaign.

Rovers’ 2-0 victory has sent a wave of belief surging through the Kirkcaldy squad after cutting the gap to 10 points with 18 games to go at the midway point.

Now winger Flanagan wants Raith to keep the same mentality that saw them become the first team to beat Arbroath this season as they continue their promotion push with a derby at home to East Fife this afternoon.

The former St Mirren and Hearts kid said: “We set a standard last Saturday and showed how good we can be by beating the top team.

“We need to use that as motivation because it proves we can beat anybody.

“Psychologically now, they know that we can beat them. Hopefully they’ll have it in their heads and that will test them.

“It was a must-win game and it pushed us on. We need to take that same mentality into every match.”

East Fife inflicted a painful defeat on Raith whose boss John McGlynn was sent to the stand before they conceded a last-minute winner last month.

Gaffer Darren Young is hopeful of upsetting their rivals, who will be without injured Regan Hendry, again after back-to-back wins.

He said: “It’ll be a hard match but we’ll go there with confidence.”
